The Irishman will end a near two-year hiatus from MMA on 6 October when he takes on lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.
McGregor’s last appearance in the octagon was in November 2016 when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to become a two-weight champion.

The lightweight title was stripped from McGregor earlier this year, and Nurmagomedov now holds that strap.
McGregor has kept much of his preparations for the Nurmagomedov clash under wraps, but finally gave fans a glimpse this week.
The 30-year-old posted a 30-second video to his Instagram showing him working on his striking, as well as his grappling.
McGregor’s takedown defence will be vital in his contest with Nurmagomedov, who is known as one of the best grapplers and wrestlers the UFC has ever housed.
Nurmagomedov is the favourite, but McGregor’s return is expected to break multiple promotional records.
Dana White has already suggested Nurmagomedov-McGregor could do as much two million pay-per-view buys in America, which would be a record for the UFC.
McGregor already holds the UFC’s PPV record, having been one half of McGregor-Diaz II in August 2016, which did 1.6million buys.Advertisement
