MMA fighter Michael Chiesa has filed a lawsuit against Conor McGregor stemming from McGregor's attack on a bus at the Barclays Center in New York earlier this year, according to online court records.
Chiesa filed the lawsuit in Kings County on Monday, a little more than five months after McGregor's attack left him with cuts on his face and forced the 30-year-old to withdraw from his scheduled fight against Anthony Pettis at UFC 223. (The two men went on to fight in July, with Pettis winning by submission in the second round.)
Chiesa's lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages, alleges that McGregor's attack resulted in physical injuries, economic loss and emotional distress. It also lists Barclay's Center as a defendant, claiming that the arena failed to "engage in proper security measures to protect the plaintiff."
Chiesa's lawsuit is believed to be the first related to the April attack, during which McGregor and members of his team threw objects at a bus. McGregor accepted a plea deal for his role in the attack in July and was mandated to perform five days of community service and undergo up to three days of anger management in lieu of jail time.

McGregor has yet to return to the octagon after making his first foray into boxing with a fight against Floyd Mayweather more than a year ago. He is scheduled to face UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov in Las Vegas in October.
