Conor McGregor has surprisingly revealed he hopes to display his grappling game on display against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.
The Notorious will make his long-awaited return to the octagon after a two-year absence from MMA.
After going ten rounds with the world’s greatest boxer last August, the Irishman will again look to achieve what many believe impossible by aiming to prise the lightweight belt from the hands of the fearsome Nurmagomedov.
With an undefeated record of 26-0, Khabib is yet to lose a round in his professional career and is known for his Dagestani wrestling and grappling techniques which have rendered opponents helpless.
As a striking specialist, experts have predicted it will be a game of cat-and-mouse with McGregor looking to land a trusty left hand. But, as per usual, the Notorious wants to do things his way.
When asked by Megan Olivi on The Exchange how he thought the fight would go, the 30-year-old said: “100% my striking will be the answer.
“But I hope there is grappling exchanges, I hope I don’t go in here and spark this man real quick.
“I’ve heard many people say that I am just a left-handed fighter which I find very disrespectful to me. There’s many skills in my arsenal, I hope we get a chance to show that and make a fight out of it.
“And I can showcase some skills that maybe have been forgotten by the mixed martial arts public who saw me compete in the boxing bout last year.
